Formed by The Gaze, Twisted by The Beast
4 chanel video installation and live performance
Inspired by archival films of early silent cinema slapstick and Vaudeville films, I create Mise-en-scène’s filmed in cinematographic setting, inspired by heritage in new light and in new perspective nowadays. While reflecting on social aspects, as well as entertainment and spectacle part of slapstick cinema, gaze and cinema industry. I look into slapstick comedy of chaos and failure, as well as absurd choreography in architecture (like Vaudeville). I concentrate on anarchistic approaches and shifted behaviours represented in social setups, scenes which turns upside down social norms or things we “know”. Illogical behaviours and scenes, which has mostly in beginning of silent cinema era, but also later; while using choreography, as expression form.
